adoption resources

over the moon

This is a beautiful story of the joy of these parents in the meeting of their daughter and in the becoming of a family. This highlights the delight of adoption from a parents perspective in terms of emphasizing the worth and value of their child and what it means to them to become her parents. The illustrations are beautiful and make this an artistic and literary treasure. Simply through the illustrations alone, it obvious that the child herself is a dream come true for these parents who longed for a child.

happy adoption day

Adoption has so many facets in terms of both joy and grief coming together as well as the varied uniqueness of each story. This book emphasizes with enthusiasm that adoption is worthy of marking and celebrating. While every family is different, this book may be a meaningful support for the family that chooses to celebrate their child joining their family in a tangible way whether it’s simply reading this book to affirm your child’s worth or throwing a party!

the mulberry bird

This is a beautiful book written for children to help them understand the complexity of what it means to be adopted. Through the story of this mama bird not being able to care for her baby, a message is conveyed that it is in fact possible to love a child and make an adoption plan if you believe it’s the best for him or her. This is a hardback book and one that might be a gift for years to come to help instill a message of love as your child works to understand his or her story.

little miss spider

This wonderful tale is about a spider who is alone without a mother to care for her until Brave Beetle Betty comes into her life and swoops her up. This book is especially great for young children to simply plant seeds around the concept that mothering and parenting in general is not limited to being related biologically. It is possible to become a family in other ways, and when love triumphs, it's a beautiful thing indeed.
